Reflection

New Year's Resolution

Self Intropection

This year will soon be over. What have i done last year? Has been good? Or even worse?
The bottomline is, next year i have to be a better person.

Quest'anno sarà presto finita. Che cosa ho fatto l'anno scorso? È stato buono? O peggio ancora?

"Whoever day now better than yesterday so he was among the lucky ones. Whoever day same as yesterday so he is a loss. Whoever day now worse than yesterday morning he accursed."

Simple Japanese Cuisine #2

Chicken Teriyaki

Another delicious cuisine from Japan is Chicken Teriyaki. This menu is quite popular and easy to cook. FYI, teriyaki is a cooking technique : teri means luster and yaki means cooking/grilling.
Enough for introduction, now let's start making this menu !!!

Chicken Teriyaki
Ingredients :
  • 1 lb boneless chicken thigh/breast
Teriyaki Sauce
  • 2 tbps soy sauce
  • 2 tbps water
  • 1 tbps mirin
  • 1 tbps sugar
  • 1/4 onion, grated, including juice
  • 1 inch ginger, grated, including juice
Instructions :
  1. Rinse chicken in running water and cut into smaller pieces. Then prick the chicken (not the skin side) with a fork.
  2. Combine Teriyaki Sauce ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Add chicken and marinate for 2-3 hours.
  4. Heat oil on medium high in a large skillet. When it’s hot, place the chicken pieces from skin side. The marinade will burn easily so try not to add any liquid in the pan. Do not throw away the marinade.
  5. When skin side is nicely browned, flip the chicken (now skin side is up).
  6. Then remove the chicken to a plate and clean the skillet.
  7. Heat a little bit of oil and put the chicken back to the skillet, skin side down first to make the skin crispy.
  8. Then flip again (now skin side is up) and pour the Teriyaki Sauce. Cook until the sauce is reduced a bit. Use spoon to pour on top of chicken a couple of times while you are cooking.
  9. Serve the chicken and pour sauce on top.
  10. Enjoy !!
Another simple dish yet delicious for everyday life. Hope you will like it.^^

Simple Japanese Cuisine

Oyakodon

Have you ever heard of Oyakodon? Oyakodon is a simple dish that consists ingredients such as chicken, egg, and onions. The ingredients are simmered together and served on the top of  a bowl of rice. Very easy to cook and delicious too. Hope you enjoy it ^^.

Oyakodon
 Ingredients :
  • 2 chicken thighs, rinsed and patted dry
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp mirin
  • 2 tbps soysauce
  • 1 tbps sugar
  • 1 cup dashi stock (seafood based stock)
  • chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions :
  1. Cut the chicken diagonally.
  2. Crack eggs into a bowl. DO NOT BEAT. Instead, hold chopsticks with the tip of chopsticks touching the bottom of the bowl, and write “Z” a couple of times. Set aside.
  3. In a shallow frying pan, heat mirin and bring it to a boil.
  4. Add soy sauce, sugar, and dashi and bring it to a boil.
  5. Spread the onion into the pan and place chicken on top. Cover with a lid and keep the heat on high until it boils.
  6. Once it boils, skim off the scum and fat, and lower the heat to medium and cook for 12 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and onion is soft. You can lightly stir the chicken and onion while cooking.
  7. Slowly and evenly add eggs into the pan instead of pouring at once.
  8. Use chopsticks and poke around the ingredients so eggs will disperse evenly. Shake the pan so the ingredients move around and bottom doesn’t stick to the pan.
  9. Serve rice in a large serving bowl.
  10. When the egg is cooked about 80%, add mitsuba (or green onions) and turn off the heat after 1 minute.
  11. Pour the mixture on top of rice and pour extra sauce. Serve immediately.
  12. Enjoy !!
As you see, the recipe is very easy to cook and hopely it will be handy when you're busy.

Trip

Borobudur Temple

Borobudur, or Barabudur, is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist Temple in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument consists of six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. A main dome, located at the center of the top platform, is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues seated inside a perforated stupa.
Built in the 9th century during the reign of the Sailendra Dynasty, the temple’s design in Gupta architecture reflects India's influence on the region, yet there are enough indigenous scenes and elements incorporated to make Borobudur uniquely Indonesian. The monument is both a shrine to the Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage. The journey for pilgrims begins at the base of the monument and follows a path around the monument and ascends to the top through three levels symbolic of Buddhist cosmology: Kāmadhātu (the world of desire), Rupadhatu (the world of forms) and Arupadhatu (the world of formlessness). The monument guides pilgrims through an extensive system of stairways and corridors with 1,460 narrative relief panels on the walls and the balustrades.
Evidence suggest Borobudur was constructed in the 9th century and abandoned following the 14th century decline of Buddhist and Hindu kingdoms in Java, and the Javanese conversion to Islam. Worldwide knowledge of its existence was sparked in 1814 by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, then the British ruler of Java, who was advised of its location by native Indonesians. Borobudur has since been preserved through several restorations. The largest restoration project was undertaken between 1975 and 1982 by the Indonesian government and UNESCO, following which the monument was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Borobudur is still used for pilgrimage; once a year Buddhists in Indonesia celebrate Vesak at the monument, and Borobudur is Indonesia's single most visited tourist attraction.

Planology Sport League

The road to final 3 on 3 basketball championships in order to Planology Sport League which is the annual grand event from Prodi PWK UNS increasingly fierce. Class of 2007 and 2011 met in the semi-finals. Both teams played well and the game runs fierce, but armed with better experience and capabilities, the class of 2007 managed to end expectations of 2011 to the final with a crushing score of 17-6.
